“You’ll smell Josh White before you see him...the outgoing pitmaster is the meat man behind Smoke, which has grown into the city from its original outpost due north, in Cockeysville...permanent menu items, like the Notorious P.I.G. (a Carolina-style pulled pork sandwich), won’t steer you wrong.”

"Smoke's galvanized-tin-paneled dining room looks like it could be in New York or LA...,but smells like a backwoods barbecue stand up in there."

- Michelle Gienow @ The City Paper

"Among the best things I've eaten in recent memory."

- Mike Unger @ Baltimore Magazine

"From the moment you pull into the parking lot, you smell the fragrance of slow-smoked meat that fills the air...chef Josh White's peerless pulled pork..."

-Baltimore Magazine (Best of Baltimore 2016)

"White's vision is to marry New American culinary techniques to traditional barbecue methods. It's an approach that has tastemakers taking notice, recognizing barbecue as an artisan, epicurean craft."

- Stephanie Citron @ The Baltimore Sun

Baltimore's Historic Cross Street Market is undergoing some serious renovations. Smoke opened a six month long pop up stall inside of the market to introduce our brand of modern american bbq to the federal hill neighborhood! We can not wait to open the new and final version of smoke inside the renovated market in Spring 2019! Sign up for our email subscription to keep up with all of the news about Smoke!

"City dwellers no longer need to make the trip to Cockeysville to get their hands on a pulled pork sandwich from this barbecue joint. Chef Josh White has brought his fingerlickin’ fare to Federal Hill with a new location inside Cross Street Market."

-Baltimore Magazine - Lauren Cohen 2017

"Smoke’s second location came together after Arsh Mirmiran of Caves Valley Partners, the redevelopment team at Cross Street Market, “randomly came in to eat” at Smoke and later asked if they would be interested in opening a location at the Cross Street Market."
